I've also seen the device show up as "USB Mass Storage Device" in the Device Manager. And, like I said, they work on Windows 2003 just fine once the driver is reinstalled. The drives show up fine on a Windows XP Home computer. I've tried uninstalling the device, scanning for hardware changes, and then reinstalling the driver. I've tried variations of the driver installation process, like choosing the driver from a list of locations. It's as if Windows keeps loosing the USB Mass Storage Device driver. However, when I disconnect the drive and reconnect it later (or connect one of the other Iomega drives) the same error comes back for the device and I have to reinstall the driver again. Then the error message for the device goes away, the drive automatically appears in the list of drives under My Computer, I can access the files, safely eject it - everything is fine. If I choose to continue anyway the driver installation finished successfully.

I have 3 of these drives and have been using them weekly with the server since July 2011. I'm having a problem between our Dell PowerEdge SC1430 server (running Windows Server 2003 service pack 2) and our Iomega Prestige 1TB external USB hard drive.
